PRP Hair Loss Treatments

Numerous conditions cause loss of hair. Chief among them are telogen effluvium, alopecia, contact dermatitis, genetic based androgenetic alopecia. Androgenetic alopecia. Characterized by receding hair line with density and thickness of hair in males. Preserved hairline in females with loss of density and thickness in the vertex.

The patient is assessed for the cause examined investigated and treated accordingly with options like topical and oral medications, mesotherapy, platelet rich plasma rejuvenation, Hair transplantation with follicular unit extraction and the strip method.

Platelet rich plasma therapy

What is it ?

Newer technique which uses ones own blood to revive and control the hair loss. It's a simple procedure which can be done in a matter of 10 to 15 minutes on scalp after anesthesia has acted to numb the skin.

How is it done ?

The blood which is collected is centrifuged and this leads to concentrated platelets which is harvested as the serum and utilised for the scalp. On an average requires at least 9 to 10 sessions spaced 2 weeks once.

What to expect ?

It's efficient in controlling hair fall which doesn't respond to the regular line of medication. There are evidences of some improvement of density too. Results of hair loss control show after 3-4 sessions

Are there any side effects ?

Since this procedure utilises ones own blood the side effects are hardly any.

Any donts before planning the procedure?

Any scalp infections like seborrheic dermatitis( severe dandruff), folliculitis( painful boils), having blood disorders, blood thinning medications are some conditions where prp has to be avoided.

How to take care post treatment

Hair wash should be avoided for for 8-12 hours, exercise can be resumed the next day. Any hair colouring should not be planned at least for a week.
